You Are Mostly Water

Clear vinyl tubing, cotton material

A site specific installation in a 10m x 10m reservoir at Eden Garden's, 'You Are Mostly Water’ highlights the importance of water and it’s life-giving properties. The sculpture takes inspiration from the complex cellular forms required that allow plants to transport water and sustain life, mirroring the structure and function of the reservoir itself.

Constructed from synthetic tubing and organically dyed cotton material, the sculpture floats on the surface of the water and its movement reflects subtle changes on it's surface. Negative space created by the organic circular shapes means that the water itself forms an essential part of the sculpture and remains the focal point. Conceptually, this accentuates the idea that whether on a microscopic level, within our own bodies, or on a global scale, water is an essential ingredient for life.
